Power Protection for Your Home
Not too long ago, stand-by power was only found in hospitals, police stations and in other situations where power was critical. Times have changed. New technology, lower prices – and new consumer needs are making stand-by generators an attractive investment for today’s homeowners.
Plus, with deregulation of the electric industry, utilities are not committing to investments in distribution equipment. The result? Increased outages due to insufficient equipment. People in New York and Chicago experienced this in the summer of 1999. More recently in August of 2003, the East Coast experienced a wide-spread blackout due to disruptions in the power grid. This situation is likely to get worse as we enter into an 11 year cycle of severe solar storms that have already caused major outages in Canada. |
