Sales Tax
One of the best things about buying through Northeast Generator Co. is that we do not have to charge sales tax, with one notable exception: orders shipping to Connecticut will be subject to a 6% sales tax. However, Northeast Generator Co. is not responsible for individual States’ sales tax reporting laws pertaining to online purchases, so we encourage you to check your State’s regulations before you shop.
Order Confirmation
After your order is completed, you will be sent an "Order Confirmation" email to the email address you entered during checkout. The subject line will say "Order Confirmation from Northeast Generator Co." and will contain your order number. This email is your receipt - so don't delete it! We encourage you to review the order and advise us of any spelling or numerical mistakes so that we can quickly make any necessary changes.
If you do not receive an "Order Confirmation" email from us within 24 hours of placing your order, please contact us as soon as possible either by phone or email. Be sure to include your account email address and order number. We will send a new confirmation to you.

How Do I Cancel My Order, Change an Item in an Order or Change Shipping Info?
If for any reason you find that you need to cancel an order*, change an item in an order, or change the shipping address, please call us at (800) 972-4264 . Generally we cannot cancel an order once it has shipped from the warehouse. All cancelled orders that have shipped are considered a return and the terms of our return policy apply.
*All cancelled orders that have not yet left our facility will incur a 3% cancellation fee.
Order Mistakes Made by US:
Call us within 5 days of receiving and we will make arrangements for pick-up and ship the correct replacement.
Order Mistakes Made by CUSTOMER:
If you ordered the wrong part(s), call us within 30-days. Customer will be responsible for the return freight and the return will be refunded less a 25% restocking fee. We can arrange for the correct part(s) to be shipped to you.
If part(s) were used, installed or missing packaging, the part(s) cannot be returned for credit.
Return & Refund Policy
If orders have already left our facility by the time you cancelled, you will be responsible for all credit card fees we incur, the original shipping fee and the return shipping fee and any labor charges we may have incurred. They will be deducted from your refund. Please allow up to 30 days for a Credit Card refund. In addition, some returns may be assessed up to a 25% restocking fee.
Electronic Parts and batteries are not returnable once they have shipped to you.
If you refuse an order, it will then fall under our standard return policy.
Returns are happily refunded if the following conditions apply:
- A request for an RMA (return merchandise authorization) number must be made within 30 days of receipt of merchandise.
- A valid RMA number must accompany returned merchandise within 15 days of RMA issue date.
- Returned merchandise must be in original, new condition (not installed, not started, not modified, no fuel introduced to unit, scratched, dinged, dented or damaged in any way) and must accompany all original documentation (instructions, literature, etc.) as well as original accessories (screws, wires, etc.) and original packaging.
- All returned merchandise is subject to a 25% restocking fee.
- Refunds are given in the form of original payment minus the actual shipping costs and restocking fees.
- Allow 30 days for all refunds to be processed.
Returns will not be accepted or refunded if the following conditions apply:
- Merchandise that is sold as used or 'as is' is not returnable.
- Special order items are not returnable.
- Any conditions that do not comply with the above stated refund policy and procedures.
If a product arrives damaged (accessory, parts, transfer switches etc. other than a generator)
Our products are well-packaged to withstand damage during shipping. We double-box many items, and refuse to carry products that are easily damaged during shipping. If an item looks damaged or parts are missing, please notify us. Northeast Generator Co. will pay to return the damaged item and send you a replacement. Please refer to our returns policy up above.

Shipping Damage Policy
Damages are rare but can happen. YOU MUST INSPECT THE SHIPMENT BEFORE SIGNING THE BILL OF LADING! It is very easy to remove the boxes to inspect the physical generator. Simply lift up the box. If you sign for freight as received in good condition, and it has damage, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU!
FAILURE TO REPORT DAMAGE ON A SIGNED BILL OF LADING WILL RESULT IN YOU HAVING TO FILE THE CLAIM AND "ATTEMPT" TO COLLECT FROM THE SHIPPING COMPANY AT THE EXPENSE OF YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!!
If your order is shipping by Truck Freight, or White Glove, please note the important instructions below.
If Shipped via Truck Freight or White Glove
Even if the package appears only slightly damaged, write "Package Damaged/Concealed Damage" when you sign for delivery. This is VERY important. If the package looks significantly damaged, you may refuse delivery of the package. The damaged package will be returned to us and we will send you a new one. If you refuse delivery, please notify us so that we can expect the return shipment.
If you have already accepted the package and find that parts are missing or damaged, please contact us right away and we will ship you the replacement parts. Speed matters since most carriers only let us file freight claims within 48 hours of delivery. If we cannot replace the parts, we will have the carrier pick up the package and we will send you a replacement. All returned products should be in the original packaging. Our goal is to make buying online easy, safe and efficient.
If your item is problematic due to a manufacturer's defect, we can either replace the defective part, or if necessary, the entire unit. We stand behind our products and maintain great relationships with the manufacturers who produce them. If you are having an issue, please contact us and we will make every effort to resolve it. Please note: All replacements are at the sole discretion of the manufacturer.
Shipping
We can ship to virtually any address in the U.S., however, we do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. We ship only to the lower 48 states. Note that there are restrictions on shipping some products, so be sure to check out our shipping restrictions. Please also carefully read about truck freight and special delivery options The most important thing to remember about truck freight is that you must inspect the package at the time of delivery. This simply insures that if there is any damage, it will be easy to take care of the problem.
Items marked FREE shipping on the product page will ship for free. We advertise free shipping, but some areas and services may incur additional fees.* We reserve the right to drop ship your generator from the factory. You will be informed of a drop shipment, or additional fees PRIOR to us processing your order. You will be allowed the opportunity to cancel before we process your order.
*In order to keep your costs down and our pricing simple, we provide free shipping whenever we can. However, certain products we offer do carry associated shipping charges either per item or per order amount. If you are shipping an order within CT, we are required to charge 6% sales tax.
Shipping Restrictions
Please note that batteries which are shipped with a generator are located on top of the generator and not inside the generator box and are counted as a separate item on the delivery receipt.
How Will My Order Ship?
We will ship your order using the fastest, safest, and most reliable method possible. Therefore, we have established strong relationships with some of the best delivery companies nationwide. Every product on our site has been carefully selected to ship by a particular shipping method in order to provide you with an optimal delivery experience and best price if applicable.
When your order ships, we will notify you via email or via phone. Included in your email will be a tracking number for your shipment carrier. We encourage you to track your package online or on the phone with the carrier. Most companies can provide an estimated delivery date. Be sure to contact us if anything seems unusual with the progress of the shipment. You may use the corresponding link below to track your package. 4 Methods of Shipping Available
We have four methods of shipment available: Small Parcel, Truck Freight - Back of Truck, Truck Freight -Threshold, and various levels of White Glove services. Additional costs may apply in certain circumstances. Please call Northeast Generator Co. and speak with Sales.
Small Parcel
Whenever possible we will ship smaller, lighter items via UPS, FEDEX, DHL or USPS. These companies provide the fastest and most reliable method of shipping available for many items we sell. Depending on how close you are to the shipping warehouse, your item will arrive between 1 and 6 business days (1 to 10 business days for USPS) after it leaves the warehouse.
We do not require an adult signature for deliveries, but please note that the decision to leave your package without a signature is at the discretion of the delivery person. If you want an item left at your doorstep, the best thing to do is leave a note on your door asking the driver to leave your package with "No Signature Required." Be sure to include your name and tracking number on the note.
Truck Freight - Back of Truck
Many items we sell are too large or too heavy to ship using a Small Parcel carrier. Therefore, our best option is to ship it to you using a common carrier. Truck freight is different than standard UPS, FedEx or US Mail in that you will be responsible for carrying the product from the back of the truck to the location. Truck Freight also differs from Small Parcel in that, for residential deliveries, you will be contacted by the shipping carrier to schedule a delivery appointment. Most companies offer appointment windows (usually 2-4 hours) between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm EST, Monday through Friday.
The most important thing to remember about truck freight is that you must inspect the package at the time of delivery. If the box has any damage, or if there is any reason for you to be at all concerned about damage, please write "PRODUCT DAMAGED/CONCEALED DAMAGE" clearly on the sheet that they ask you to sign. This simply insures that if there is any damage, it will be easy to take care of the problem.
If you are ordering a very large item, please keep in mind that you may need a couple of people to help unload it. Alternatively, most truck freight companies offer additional services to help you move items from the truck to your location. Once we email you the tracking information you can contact the shipper directly to inquire about additional services. You would be responsible for directly paying the truck freight carrier for any additional services.
Truck Freight Threshold
This method is just like "Truck Freight - Back of Truck" (see above), only the truck freight company will deliver your order to the threshold if yours is a residential delivery (this means to your garage or driveway), or to the loading dock if yours is a commercial delivery. Unfortunately, they are not authorized to perform any assembly services. Once we email you the tracking information you can contact the shipper directly to arrange for any additional services that you would like. You will be responsible for directly paying the truck freight carrier for these additional services.
Freight Service Levels
We have four levels of White Glove services to offer.
White Glove Bronze
Bronze service level provides two-man delivery, to inside the threshold of your residence. If you live in a home with a garage this means the product will be left in your garage or driveway. If you do not have a garage the product will be left in your front entrance, or driveway. The product will be left in the original packaging.
White Glove Silver
Silver service level provides two-man delivery, to your residence to the location you choose. If you need the product moved up any stairs please contact us*. The product will be left in the original packaging.
White Glove Gold
Gold service level provides two-man delivery, to your residence to the location you choose. This service includes carrying the product up two flights of stairs from the building threshold (4-15 steps = 1 flight). Once the product is in the location you desire, the shipper will unpack the product and provide basic setup that requires no tools (i.e. will set pieces next to each other, or on top of each other). The shipper will also remove and dispose of all packaging.
White Glove Platinum
Platinum service level provides two-man delivery, to your residence to the location you choose. This service includes carrying the product up two flights of stairs from the building threshold (4-15 steps = 1 flight). Once the product is in the location you desire, the shipper will unpack the product and provide light setup that requires basic tools (i.e. pieces will be screwed or bolted together, set pieces next to each other, or on top of each other). The shipper will also remove and dispose of all packaging.
*In all cases the shipper will not hookup any electrical or component wires. Having items carried up more than 25 steps and longer assembly periods are available as additional services which would require additional charges. Please contact us if you feel you need these services, we are available to help you.
When your order arrives at the delivery agent closest to your home or office, you will be contacted by a scheduling clerk for a delivery appointment. The appointment is typically a 2- to 5-hour window, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Saturday deliveries are not always possible.
One other important thing to remember about white glove freight is that you MUST inspect the product and any packaging you see at the time of delivery. If there is any damage to either the product or the package, or if there is any reason for you to be at all concerned about damage, please write "PRODUCT DAMAGED/CONCEALED DAMAGE" clearly on the sheet that they ask you to sign. This simply insures that if there is any damage, it will be easy to take care of the problem.
Shipping To Multiple Addresses
We want to save you time, so we offer you the ability to send products to more than one address within one order.
It is easy to send your order to multiple addresses. For each item you add to your Shopping Cart you can select a recipient. You can also change a recipient during Checkout. Simply enter an address for each recipient.
Delivery Time
When you place an order, we will estimate shipping and delivery dates for you based on the availability of your items and the shipping options available for those items. After placing your order, you will see both shipping and delivery date estimates in the order confirmation e-mail we send or via phone. Each lead time varies based on many different factors. Some warehouses stock items that can be shipped the same day or within 48-72 hours. Others items require a longer time, especially if they are custom or need to be manufactured (e.g. 2-4 weeks). Each product page on our site includes the estimated Lead Time: "Usually ships in 48-72 hours" to give you an idea how quickly your order will leave the warehouse.
Paying by Check or Money Order: Please add an extra 10 day(s) to the Shipping and Delivery Estimates to process a check or money order.
For Small Parcel shipments, delivery usually takes between 1 and 6 business days (except for USPS which ships in 1-10 business days) after your order is picked up from the warehouse. For expedited services such as 3-day, 2nd Day or Next Day Air, your order's travel time is locked in to the given speed you select after the item leaves the warehouse. You should remember that the estimated Lead Time still applies before the item ships out. Be sure to consult the product's Lead Time before you order with expedited shipping, and call us if you have any questions or concerns.
For Truck Freight shipments, delivery usually takes between 3 and 7 days from when your order ships. For residential deliveries, you will be contacted for an appointment as soon as your order arrives at the local terminal. For commercial deliveries, no appointment will be made. If you need to make one, please contact us.
For White Glove shipments, delivery usually takes between 1 and 2 weeks from the time the items leave the warehouse. Your order will travel through a nationwide network of professional moving companies who will handle your item(s) with the utmost care. You will be contacted for a delivery appointment when your order reaches the delivery agent. Although the items are handled carefully throughout transit, we require that our orders undergo a thorough inspection at the delivery agent before delivery. We take extra steps to make sure your item is delivered in perfect condition.
